Does my son have a cold or is it teething?

Andrew is 10 months, he just saw his pediatrician on Wednesday and he had a runny nose then and his Dr. checked his ears and they looked perfect he said. He said it could be the common cold, but doesn't recommend anything for him to take except for tyenol or motrin. He doesn't really have a temp, the highest it's been was 99.5 last night. And he did not sleep good at all last night. he has a lot of gas, farting and burping. He has never had a cold so that's why i'm asking. Also his Dr. said to elevate him, umm how do you elevate him when he is constantly moving? And he's too big for his swing now. My mom suggested him to sleep in his car seat?? I just put a pillow in his crib now and sat his head on it since i'm up i'll check on him to make sure he's okay. I'm just new at this, my husband has been a HUGE help with everything thank god since i'm getting sick and only 8 weeks pregnant. Just need some relief for him. Thank you!!
