Is this any sort of cancer?

For about a month now, i've had a tight spot under my left ear. It's kind of painless, but I know it's there, and also it's a little painful when I swallow. It doesn't hurt badly at all, almost to where I wouldn't call it a pain but I know it's there, ya know? I'm asking my mom to schedule me a doctors appt. tomorrow. I'm 17 years old, and i've smoked cigarettes since I was 12. I'm a very, very bad hypochondriac and i'm so scared. I can't stop thinking things like, oh my gosh it's cancer and it's spreading into my brain, and it's going to spread all through my throat and if it is cancer that the doctors won't be able to help me. And also, another symptom, slight earache every once in awhile. One more thing, I pretty much live with my boyfriend, and he has a younger sister, 6, and a younger brother, 10. We all just got over a flu like virus, thankfully it wasn't swine flu. And his brother also just got over bronchitis. Please help, i'm going out of my mind!
