How to test graphics card ?

hi i have an unusual query .... if i am going to buy a second hand card ( new ) from someone who bought it as an expensive mistake and i want to test if the card is in working condition ... is it enough if i play Quake 3 for an hour on the seller's PC ? means if it can play one 3 D game it can play any other within its technical limits too .. like if it is nvidia 7600 i do not have to play Doom 3 in his home ..... do i .... Quake 3 wil do correct . if one game runs the others within the card's ability will also ......... correct or not ? ume my PC has everything it needs ......
