How safe is it to put a dog on an airplane?

i moved to asia and i want my dog to come with me now. she is a lhasa-poo. how safe would it be for her to fly from cali to bangkok? would it be just to stressful for her? she is 5 years old and no health problems that i am aware of. thank you for those who answer.
